Coherence

The lines should relate to each other so that they have good shape. This means exploiting parallelism and symmetry, aligning stations and termini for neatness, and creating well- recognised features such as circles and horizons. Coherence is subtle and hard to attain, but it makes the difference between a good map and a great map.
